Fight Night Round 4

Fight night is really the only boxing series out worth a damn. (Despite the skin Punch Out! is NOT a boxing game)
The fight night series really came into mass market popularity with Fight Night Round 3 on the 360 and PS3. The game featured a new control scheme that make playing simple and intuitive. The right analog stick controlled all your punches, how you moved determined what kind of punch you would throw and with which hand. The left stick moved your character and when the triggers were held down it would move your body allowing for more realistic blocks and dodging.
Fight Night Round 4 really steps it up; it takes the same fun gameplay from Round 3, and improves the graphics, amount of playable characters and customization of your own boxer. The online mode which allows you to compete for the virtual championship belt is very intriguing.
The demo itself does some basic training. (The kind that teaches you how to play, not the minigames that lets you beef up your characters stats) Then it throws you into the ring. The fight lasts 3 rounds, unless you either knock out your opponent.
The only thing in the demo really worth mentioning is that the between rounds minigames has been changed. In round 3 you would fix up wounds on your characters face, the better job you did the more health he got back. In the new game you get points based on how you did in the round, you can distribute those points to determine what gauges to refill for the next round. This new mechanic adds a lot more strategy to the game, but is not as fun and can take you out of the experience.
Well I think anyone can get some good enjoyment out of this game. It can be difficult for beginners so feel free to turn down the difficulty. If you liked Round 3 this game is definitely for you. Even if you don’t think you’ll like a boxing game though, give the demo a try. You may be surprised.
