R-Type Delta

Now that I’ve actually gotten the R-Type Dimensions review up, I can write this one without having to re-write all my feelings on the R-Type series.
R-Type Delta is a PSX game; it was available as a download on the JPN and HK stores for quite a while, but only recently was released on PSN in North America.
R-Type Delta was only released on the PSX and is the first R-Type game to use 3d. The games allows you to choose from 3 different ships and sends you off into the horizontal shump experience you’d expect from an R-Type game.
The first level takes place in a city scene which is a very welcome change from space and cave themed levels. It also gives the game a different feel. Also with the game being in 3d it really adds a more cinematic feel to the game, bosses seem bigger and badder and everything feels more alive.
There’s not too much I can say about this game. It’s a very fun game, but it doesn’t have the nifty infinite mode from R-Type dimensions so be prepared to get stuck ALOT. At least you can keep re-trying with the different ships which adds another level of depth to it.
This game is really best suited for R-Type fans, but if you’re interested in the series and like the footage, this isn’t a bad game to start with.
