CellFactor Psychokenetic Wars

The CellFactor Psychokinetic Wars Demo was released on PSN last week (as well as the full game). It is a pretty interesting addition to the PSN store. The game is basically an fps arena shooter like Unreal Tournament or Quake 3, only really scaled down. The graphics, presentation, features, are exactly what you’d expect from a game you’re paying $10 for. The game isn’t amazing looking, or have tons of modes, but there’s enough there for a budget title. The game has single player challenge modes, and online multiplayer.
There is also a good selection of unique weapons to use, and the controls are pretty tight. It’s easy to get the hang of this game if you’ve played any other first person shooter.
The one thing that makes this title stand out is that they’ve added special abilities each character can use. You can use telekinesis to grab objects and toss them at enemies. You can teleport short distances, and up to higher levels. Finally, you can also put up a shield to absorb incoming fire.
That aspect of the game makes it feel a bit like the Shadowrun FPS that came out for 360. But not nearly as fleshed out, or customized as all characters have the same attacks.
Despite being a pretty solid attempt at an arena shooter targeted at the budget gamer, it’s still hard to recommend. I understand the business approach, and it’s a decent game. It’s just not really worth it when I see $15 copies of Unreal Tournament 3 everywhere.

I do not agree with you.
I buy this game… and i have played it for three days. It’s awesome.
IMO is the best FPS ever for PSN. I really like this. It’s funny and quick.
Why do you say “$15 copies of Unreal Tournament 3″?
it only cost $9.99 and is not a UT3 copy… or in unreal tournament you can dual wield? or you can fly? or you can throw Physics objects?
I definitely recommend it!
Im not agree with your opinion.
Here is my 2 cents:
I see your points Lobezno, but I also (sort of) agree with Mike on it. You’re right it is not UT3. It has its own unique stuff but at the end of the day it is yet another FPS taking place in the same sort of environment as UT3.(By that I mean it’s not in a forest like Haze, it’s not WW2 like COD, It’s not an adventure like Riddick, etc. and it has the same virtual space as UT3.)
I think by what Mike said about “$15 copies of Unreal Tournament 3″ he meant like Why would you buy this game when you can buy used copies of unreal tournament 3 for $15 which is more fun and complete. (Mike, correct me if I’m wrong.)
In the end I wouldn’t say I won’t buy it, only because $10 is not a big deal but I would buy it only if there are enough people online to play with.
To each their own.
The FPS genre is highly overcrowded as it is. Each game tries to appeal to a different gamer, and with all the FPS games I’ve played over the last couple years this game just didn’t appeal to me. Still, the audience for this game does exist. It’s great that you’re enjoying it.
