Naruto Shippuden - Clash of Ninja Revolution 3

There’s not much to really say about Clash of Ninja Revolution 3, it’s the 5th game in the series, and the 3rd released on the Wii. The game is also the first in the series to be based on the Naruto Shippuden anime series (which is the sequel to the standard Naruto series).

The game features 40 characters from the Naruto Shippuden series. Combat and game play is nearly identical to the previous games in the series. The games still have an the usual mechanics, standard and ranged attacks, special techniques, and the replacement technique that allows you to break out of enemy combos and counter attack.

The main change includes the ability to have helper characters that you can switch to, or they can jump in and help out with special attacks. The characters in the game are also rebalanced, making for a better multiplayer experience which is good since the game features online play.

Like the other Naruto series, the story mode adds many different objectives to the matches instead of just defeating enemies. The downside is that the computer is obviously stacked against you in certain cases. The AI is difficult and sometimes cheap. Aside from that, it’s also very short.

The real meat of the game is in the other modes. Including mission mode, survival mode, and several versus options. You can play singles versus matches, as well as doubles, or a 4 player battle royal.
Playing the different modes of the games gets you currency that you can use at the shop to unlock new characters or additional items.

The game still supports several controllers including the wiimote and nun-chuck, classic controller, and gamecube controller.

All in all, Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 is just more of the same. Though it is one of my favorite anime fighting franchises, and it is the best in the series. if you’ve been playing the other games you might be burned out on the Clash of Ninja titles. The combat system overall is unique, and I find it more complex than the Playstation or 360 fighting games. It’s a fun fighting game, which is a genre that the Wii is sorely lacking titles for. If you’re not already burned out on the series, and love the show, or just want a good fighting game for the Wii than you might want to check out this game.
