God of War Collection
The God of War Collection for PS3 is an updated collection of the first two God of War games. God of War 1 and 2 were originally released on PS2, and became one of Sony most popular franchises. With next years March release of God of War 3, the collection offers gamers without backwards compatible systems, and fans who want the play the best version possible, a new way to play the original games.
There’s nothing added in terms of functionality but the games do look a good bit better upscaled. It stil doesn’t look as nice as most PS3 games, but it does look nicer than the ps2 versions. One thing that looks noticeably worse is the cut scenes for both games. They’re stretched to wide screen and upscaled poorly. They look worse than the actual in game graphics. I don’t quite understand this as I’m sure the original scenes are backed up somewhere. They should have been able to re-render the cut scene at HD resolution, and while it wouldn’t have looked much better than the original, it definitely wouldn’t have looked worse.
The only other change is that trophy support has been added to both games. For the first time this PS3 title actually has multiple sets of trophies. The first time you play either game the co-responding trophy set for that game is added to you profile. Both have quite a few trophies and it’s own platinum.

The 1st gen PS3 were backward compatible, hardware was removed to reduce cost of the system.
I never got a chance to play these 2 games (my PS2 is really old and the laser is bad), so I’m looking forward to this release.

If u actually buy the new p23 for 299 u can play all the ps2 games i believe. But for 40 bucks this game is worth gettin the graphics look 10x better then if u were playin the ps2 version on a ps3. And most of the good ps2 games can be DL. from the store but i kno theres not a huge selection.

lol have u played it on at least 40 inch HDTV with forced 1080p upscaled from the tv? believe me if you play it on a 40 inch 1080p with 1080i and 720p boxes unchecked you got 1080p.
textures are the same but the anti-aliasing makes it look so much crisper almost as good as ninja gaiden sigma 2.
it really depends on what kind of tv you play it on but on mine (40 inch bravia) all i can say is that my jaw dropped at how good it looked.

I’d say he’s playing about average. Well..I’m not a great gamer, but I’d say the difficulty of GOW games are accurate. Normal is a balanced and easy mode, whereas harder difficulty=harder…lol.
I remember saying this about GOW2 “Damn–God of War 2 on Very hard is….very hard, hahaha”.

yea they remastered them into 720i. the gameplay is in HD but the cutscenes arent converted. its just so people who didnt get the chance to play it on the ps2 have a chance now before GOW3. i actually just got mine yesterday havent played it yet though

Not necessarily, it does pick up where the first left off, but the story itself stands independently of the first. Basically, it’s an entirely new plot line. So, I’d say yeah, you can play 2 without 1.

Have you played ICO, Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 2 or Metal Gear Solid 3 (‘Subsistence’ version…not ‘Snake Eater’)? Most people who have would have a very hard time saying GoW or GoWII is the “best game on PS2″. As good as it was, it is way down the list from from those titles.

They are PS2 games, Simply done in HD for PS3. They aren’t redone.
Besides the gran turismo series,i think the god of war series is the best exlusive games on ps2 and ps3.and the way sony made it to were the god of war collection is blueray just makes the picture look amazing,but gow 3 is definently in my oppinion,the best game for ps3.
