Excitebike: World Rally

Excitebike World Rally is 3rd excitebike game, following the much loved original NES title, and the Excitebike 64 sequel. The game plays nearly identical to the original title.

Game play contains the player controlling dirt bike and racing to the end of the course. Each course has 4 tracks that can be switched between to avoid obstacles, and other riders, as well as line up large jumps. Riders can hop low obstacles and riders, by pressing back on the bike, and wiping out knocks the player off the track.

Bikes also have a turbo feature to gain speed, but over usage will cause the bike to overheat and temporarily stall. The game is less about racing against other players, and more about time trials. The goal is to finish each course in a set period of time. Other bikers are really only there to get in the players way.

The game features several tracks in each region: UK, America, Mexico, and Japan. To move to the next track in the game the player has to get a B or higher ranking on the previous track.

The game features the main mode, an online mode where players can race against each other, and a track builder mode. Like the original Excitebike, you can create your own tracks to play with your friends.

Overall, Excitebike World Rally is a great throwback to the original game. If you remember and loved the original, this is a game for you. It’s very simple, retro, and fun. If you haven’t played the original, I’m not sure how it would hold up…
