It’s no secret that the Nintendo DS has a gigantic amount of market share. Its appeal is as broad as the Wii’s, only it actually has enough of a game library to make it a viable option for hardcore gamers as well.
With this in mind we’ve always wanted to do reviews on DS games, but one other thing that sets the system apart is that it’s the only major console/handheld that doesn’t have a good way of exporting audio and video from.
Of course the option is always there to go ahead with just the reviews and screenshots, but that’s not really what we’re about here.
So we cobbled together a solution and we’re still working out the kinks, but at least we can now provide some kind of footage to go along with DS reviews.
The capture is not perfect, and there’s no audio currently. There may be several problems with a DS video that aren’t present in the actual game, so we’ll point that out in every review where that’s the case. And hopefully after a couple more tries we’ll get the ideal video and audio we want from our DS games.
